The problem
Manufacturing data often lives outside Fusion — ODB++ jobs from your CAM tool, Gerber folders from legacy flows, or supplier outputs you need to compare against your design:
- No quick way to inspect copper, mask, silk, drill, and outline layers before import
- Manual geometry recreation when you only need layout reference on the board
- Hard to verify CAM output matches what you expect without leaving Fusion
CAM Viewer brings manufacturing data into your PCB workflow — preview first, then import only the layers you need.
Key features
-
ODB++ support
Open compressed job archives (
.tgz, .zip) or extracted ODB++ job folders.
-
Gerber support
Load Gerber RS-274X copper, mask, silk, and outline layers plus Excellon drill files.
-
Interactive layer preview
Pan and zoom an SVG preview with individual layer toggles before import.
-
Import to board
Bring traces, pads, vias, and board outline onto Fusion PCB layers on the active design.
-
PCB workspace integration
Launch from the Add-ins panel in the Fusion Electronics (PCB) workspace.
-
Preview without a board
Inspect CAM data even when no PCB document is open; import requires an active board.
-
Runs locally
No cloud upload required for preview or import. No analytics. No data collection.
-
Privacy-first
Full privacy policy included in the app and on this site.
How it works
- Install CAM Viewer from the Autodesk App Store or using the Windows installer.
- Restart Autodesk Fusion.
- Open or create a design in the Electronics (PCB) workspace.
- Go to the Add-ins panel and click CAM Viewer.
- Browse to your ODB++ archive or Gerber output folder and click Load.
- Toggle layers in the preview to inspect copper, mask, silk, drill, and outline.
- Click Import to Board to bring selected geometry onto the active PCB.
Tip: Toggle off layers you do not want before importing. Import maps CAM layers to Fusion PCB layers based on the layer catalog shown in the palette.

FAQ
- What does CAM Viewer do?
- It previews ODB++ and Gerber manufacturing data inside Fusion and imports selected layout geometry onto your open PCB design.
- Where is the button?
- Electronics (PCB) workspace → Add-ins panel → CAM Viewer. You can also enable it from UTILITIES → Add-ins.
- Can I preview without a PCB open?
- Yes. Preview works without an active board. Import to Board requires an open PCB design.
- Does it send my CAM files online?
- No. All parsing, preview, and import run locally on your computer.
- What file types are supported?
- ODB++ (
.tgz, .zip, or extracted folders), Gerber RS-274X layers, and Excellon drill files in a Gerber folder.
- How do I uninstall?
- Windows Settings → Apps → CAM Viewer → Uninstall, or remove it from Fusion Scripts and Add-Ins.
- Is it free?
- Yes.
Known limitations
- Import requires an active PCB document in the Electronics workspace
- Preview quality depends on complete ODB++ jobs or Gerber folders with layer files present
- Units are detected from file headers — re-export from your CAM tool if values seem off
- Restart Fusion after installation if the button does not appear immediately
